Weights used during the balancing process to equalize the weight mass around and across the tire; attached to the rim with clips or special adhesive.

wheel slip sensor

Glossary “wheel slip sensor” Definition:
Device used in combination with the wheel slip brake control system to send the rate of angular rotation of the wheel(s) and transmit signals to the logic controller.

wheel shimmy

Glossary “wheel shimmy” Definition:
1). The wobbling motion during rotation of a dynamically unbalanced tire. 2). Rapid inward and outward oscillations of the front wheels.

wheel rim

Glossary “wheel rim” Definition:
Circular steel, aluminum, or magnesium components on which the tires are mounted, manufactured from stamped, or pressed steel discs that are riveted or welded together to form the circular rim.

wheel hub

Glossary “wheel hub” Definition:
Compoent that serves as a mounting plate for the wheel or brake rotor or drum. The wheel hub fits over the bearings on a wheel spindle or axle.

wheel cylinder

Glossary “wheel cylinder” Definition:
Hydraulic cylinder mounted on the backing plate of a drum brake assembly. The wheel cylinder convert hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder to mechanical force that applies the brake shoes against the brake drums.
