Glossary “negative wheel slip” Definition:
Wheel lockup that occurs when too much braking force is applied to a wheel and the tire skids on the pavement. ABS controls negative wheel slip by modulating the hydraulic pressure to the wheel or wheels that is/are skidding.

Glossary “negative pole” Definition:
Negative terminal on a battery. Also known as negative post.

Glossary “negative post” Definition:
Same as negative pole.

Glossary “negative pressure test” Definition:
Part of the respirator fit test. Performed by placing the palms of both hands over the filter cartridges and inhaling. A good fit is evident if the face piece collapes onto your face due to a good seal.

Glossary “negative terminal” Definition:
The side of a battery or electrical device nearest ground potential, often identified by a minus (-) sign.

Glossary “negative offset” Definition:
A wheel rim that has been placed inward from the center of its mounting flange.

Glossary “negative back pressure EGR” Definition:
EGR system having a normally closed bleed hole which opens when back pressure increases, closing a diaphram valve and allowing engine vacuum to raise the pintal valve off the seat.

Glossary “negative back pressure EGR valve” Definition:
EGR valve having a normally closed bleed hole which opens when back pressure drops, reducing vacuum above the diaphragm and cutting off the recirculation flow.

Glossary “negative camber” Definition:
The inward vertical tilt of the wheel(s), when viewed from the front of a vehicle.

Glossary “negative caster” Definition:
The forward tilt of the steering axis.

Glossary “negative coefficient thermister” Definition:
Resistance will lower as the coolant temperature increases.
