Glossary “adaptive memory” Definition:
The feature of a computer memory that allows the microprocessor to automatically compensate for changes in the dynamics of the process being controlled. Anything stored in adaptive memory is lost when power to the computer is interrupted, such as when the battery is disconnected.

Glossary “adaptive strategy” Definition:
The ability of the PCM to adapt to hardware, aging and other variables. Also permits the PCM to substitute learned values for a failed sensor in FMEM. Used for fuel system, idle air control and transmission adjustments.

Glossary “adaptive suspension system” Definition:
Suspension system that are able to change ride characteristics by continuously altering shock damping and ride height

Glossary “adaptive fuel monitor” Definition:
OBD II required monitor to flag adaptive fuel adjustments that may cause emissions to exceed California ARB limits.

Glossary “adaptive fuel trim” Definition:
Allows the fuel system to operate at the correct A/F. Systems has learned or adapted the both the driver’s and engine’s needs.
