brake fade

Glossary “brake fade” Definition:
Condition whereby repeated severe application of the brakes, over a short time period, cause an expansion of the brake drum and/or loss of frictional ability, which results in impaired braking efficiency. When every brake shoe are wet, they lose braking ability. Off gassing from the pads can also cause this condition. If the brake fluid is overheated and becomes vaporized, this condition will also occur.
