torsional vibration

Glossary “torsional vibration” Definition:
1). A rotary vibration that causes a twist-untwist action on a rotating shaft. 2). Low frequency vibration that is produced by components while thay are under a twisting stain. Usually felt in the seats and floor of the vehicle and is heard as a rumbling sound. Most noticeable during steady, hard acceleration.

torsional stabilizer bar

Glossary “torsional stabilizer bar” Definition:
Stabilizer bar made of spring steel reduces the body roll, thereby reducing the effect of centrifugal force when a vehicle rounds a corner. Some stabilizer bars are hollow.

torsional springs

Round, stiff coil springs placed in the driven disc to absorb the torsional disturbances between the driving flywheel and the pressure plate and the driven transmission input shaft.

Type of rod that when twisted, acts as a spring. Usually found attached to deck lid hinges to assisting in opening the deck lid.
