Glossary “volumetric efficiency (VE)” Definition:
1). A percentage ratio that varies with the engine’s rpm, measuring the difference between the air-fuel mixture actually entering a cylinder and the amount that can enter under ideal conditions. 2). The ratio between the amount of air-fuel mixture that actually enters the cylinder and the amount that could enter under ideal conditions expressed as a percentage.

When they try to push their way across the gap that was created wwhen the circuit was opened, the spike is created.
