1). Device that converts hydraulic pressure to mechanical movement, such as a brake-wheel cylinder. 2). A vacuum operated unit that attaches to the throttle linkage to move the throttle on a cruise control system. 3). Used to apply bands in an A/T.

service valves

Glossary “service valves” Definition:
Special manually operated or Schrader-type valves that allow connecting gauge hoses to a pressurized system during servicing procedures.

service port

Glossary “service port” Definition:
An access fitting found on the service valve and some control devices that the gauge set hoses are connected to for service and testing.

service manual

Glossary “service manual” Definition:
Manual provided by the manufacturer or other publisher that describes service procedures, troubleshooting and diagnosis, and specifications for a particular car line.

service parts identification label

Glossary “service parts identification label” Definition:
A paper decal with a protective plastic coating and attached in designed locations of the vehicle. It provides the VIN number, WA number, paint codes, and paint type. Used by GM since mid 1984.
