Tendency of a valve spring to bounce around in its seat at high-engine speed.

Glossary “spring windup” Definition:
The slight S-shape assumed by the leaf spring during extreme acceleration and braking that may be controlled by traction bars on high-performance vehicles.

Glossary “spring scale” Definition:
Measuring device commonly used to check articulation effort of tie rods, rack and pinion assemblies and steering gear rotating effort. Contains a calibrated spring that compresses a known amount under a given load.

Recess in a chassis where a coil spring is mounted.
